The Big Idea

Click 3x Sinks Its Teeth Into Shark Week
Tired of summer reruns, but need to escape this brutal heat wave? Well you're in luck because this is the week that television was made for: Shark Week. And this year, The Discovery Channel is pulling out all of the stops. Fortunately for us, they invited us along for the ride.

Discovery, in conjunction with conservation organization Oceana, intends to educate the public about the often misunderstood and maligned deep sea species with their 23rd annual Shark Week, beginning Sunday August 1st. Sandwiched between their diverse collection of shark-themed programming will be various public service announcements that help viewers to comprehend the precarious state that the predators really are in at this moment in time.

Knowing all that, how could Discovery possibly make Shark Week any cooler? Skateboards. To further raise awareness for the cause, Discovery and Oceana will be co-sponsoring the X-games and having a special online auction of custom designed skateboards to raise money for the organization. ANd that's where we came in.

Our task was to create custom skateboard decks…and we mean one of a kind. And much like the X-Games, all rules were thrown out the window, so if we wanted to use stickers, paint, or welding they wanted to see what we could bring to the table. The only mandate, let's show how sharks are not all bite.

We were definitely up to the challenge and the result was 11 custom shark themed decks that are one part art or one part half pipe shredder.
